Discount Airfare: Delta's Deep Discounts on Europe Flights

A report this week on National Public Radio indicated that tourism in Italy dropped 25 percent in 2008 from the previous year, and 2009 doesn't look much better. This news isn't completely shocking, especially given the global economic crisis, but some airlines are working overtime to bring about the discounts.

Now in the lineup for deep discounted airfares: Delta's Europe flights. Delta Air Lines is running a European summer fare sale with some routes discounted more than 50 percent.

All the discount airfares we’re about to quote are one-way (excluding fees and taxes) and require a round-trip purchase. Book and buy no later than March 31 on Delta.com.

Here’s a sampling of what the Delta is offering, along with the discount it represents:

- Chicago O’Hare (ORD) – Rome (FCO): $429 (44%)
- Seattle/Tacoma (SEA) – Milan (MXP): $469 (41%)
- Boston (BOS) – Venice (VCE): $399 (51%)
- Houston (IAH) – Madrid (MAD): $419 (43%)
- Pittsburgh (PIT) – Paris (CDG): $329 (57%)
- Miami (MIA) – Athens (ATH): $489 (35%)
- Atlanta (ATL) – Barcelona (BCN): $409 (50%)
